Submission of Final Papers -- now open!
For accepted proposals to be included in the conference proceedings and program, two things must occur. First, the original submitter must submit a final non-blinded version of the paper that meets the conference formatting guidelines by June 1, 2012. Second, at least one author must register for the conference by August 1, 2012.
Things to keep in mind as you prepare your final paper:
-
Please access the reviews of your proposal and take the comments into consideration when you revise your paper.
To access the reviews of your proposal, log into the All Academic PME-NA 2012 login page, and click the "Upload Final Paper/Read Reviews."
Please pay attention to the formatting guidelines for final papers. For those who find it useful, we provide a proposal template.
-
Identify up to four relevant keywords (which will be used for indexing).
-
Before submitting your final paper, please use this checklist to make sure you have attended to all necessary formatting requirements.
Submission of Proposals -- closed
Regardless of your research area, we encourage you to consider your
work through the perspective of the conference theme, Navigating
Transitions Along Continuums. By collectively focusing on critical
issues related to transitions, the conference will contribute to a
better understanding of how to effectively navigate them. The relationship
of proposals to the theme will be one of the reviewing criteria.
Things to keep in mind as you prepare your proposal:
-
All proposals must be blind for review.
Proposals should be BLIND when initially submitted to the proposal system. That is, any mention of the author(s), author(s) institution(s), funding sources, or other identifying information should be deleted from the paper. This includes deleting the entire reference from the reference list if it includes an author. In the body of the paper, citations that include the author can be replaced with (Author) to show that there is a citation. Please make all the deletions/changes to blind the paper AFTER you have completed your paper so that you can be sure that it meets the page limits with all the author information included.
-
All proposals must be submitted in English electronically as a
Microsoft Word .doc document (NOT .docx) through the All
Academic system.
-
The deadlines are firm: February 15 for Research Reports and Brief
Research Reports, March 15 for Posters and Working Groups.
-
An individual may serve as the primary presenting author for only one Research Report.
An individual may be co-author on multiple Research Report proposals, however, the (co)author who electronically submits a proposal is committing to present the work at the conference and can do so for only one Research Report proposal. This person must also register for the conference by the speaker registration deadline for an accepted proposal to remain on the program. Currently there is no policy for Brief Research Report or Poster proposals, thus an individual may submit a Brief Research Report or Poster proposal in addition to a Research Report proposal.
-
Page limits for all session types include
references.
-
There will be time for only minor revisions to accepted papers,
thus it is essential to carefully format proposals according to
the proceedings guidelines.
-
For those who find it useful, we provide a proposal template.
-
Reviewers will be asked to rate each proposal on specific criteria tailored to the different types of proposals: Research Report and Brief Research Report, Poster and Working Group.
BEFORE entering the All Academic system to submit a proposal consider
the following:
If you are submitting a joint proposal, click here for important information.
-
The person submitting the proposal should be a presenting author as it is that person who will need to register by the speaker registration deadline of August 1, 2012 for an accepted proposal to remain on the program.
-
Each co-author will need to create an account in the All Academic system. This can be quickly done by following the directions on the All Academic PME-NA 2012 login page. The person submitting the proposal will then be able to identify them as co-authors.
As part of the submission process you will be asked questions to provide information to help with reviewing and with organizing the program
and proceedings:
-
identify one of ten different strands*;
-
provide a maximum 15-word title;
-
provide a maximum 100-word description (this will appear in the conference
program);
-
choose the type of research (quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods
or theoretical);
-
identify which of the four continuums best describes your proposal
(student learning, professional learning, school mathematics articulation,
innovation);
-
identify up to four relevant keywords (which
will be used for indexing);
-
indicate your willingness to present in a different format than
proposed (e.g., a Brief Research Report or Poster if submitting a Research Report).
* Those submitting proposals for posters and working groups will not
be asked to choose a strand.
