Reviews -- available for viewing
THANK YOU
to all those who reviewed proposals for PME-NA 2012. Reviewing makes an important contribution to the quality of the conference.
Two types of reviews are available for viewing. If you submitted a proposal, you may access the reviews for your proposal. If you reviewed proposals, you may access all the reviews that were made for the proposals that you reviewed. We are making reviews available to improve our community's ability to write and review proposals. To access these reviews you will log into the All Academic PME-NA 2012 login page. Reviewers will click the "Review" button, submitters will click the "Upload Final Paper/Read Reviews."
Review Process -- now complete
Reviewers: To access your assigned proposals for review, go to the All Academic PME-NA 2012 login page. Reviews are due March 21.
Volunteers Thank you! We currently have all the reviewers that we need and are not accepting any more volunteers.
All PME-NA members and others who have expertise in areas of interest
to PME-NA are encouraged to volunteer to review proposals. We appreciate
early volunteers as it helps with the planning process. Reviewers for
Research Report and Brief Research Report proposals will be assigned
to reviewers shortly after the February 15 deadline. Reviews will
be due March 21. To volunteer to be a reviewer, go to the All Academic PME-NA 2012 login
page. The first time you visit you will need to follow the directions
to create an account. In subsequent visits login using your user
name and password. Note that you will use the same user name and
password for reviewing and for submitting proposals. Under the "Submit
or Edit a Proposal" heading on the Submitter menu is a "Volunteer
to Review" link.
Research and Brief Research Report Review Criteria
Each Research Report or Brief Research Report will be assigned to three
reviewers who will make a recommendation to the Local Organizing
Committee about whether a proposal should be Accepted, Rejected,
or Accepted in an alternate format. The reviewer
guidelines for making
these recommendations provide separate criteria for empirical and
theoretical proposals. An empirical proposal is one that presents
a study based in data and draws conclusions from a principled analysis
of that data. It emphasizes conclusions and provides answers to research
questions. A theoretical proposal is one whose main thrust is to
give principled analyses of issues. It emphasizes explanations and
connections and provides coherent ways to think about issues, situations,
or phenomena in mathematics education. For those who find it useful,
we provide worksheets for reviewing empirical proposals (Word, PDF)
and theoretical proposals (Word, PDF).
All Research Reports and Brief Research Reports will be rated on
the following criteria:
Additional criteria for empirical proposals:
-
theoretical framework,
-
mode of inquiry,
-
rigor of analysis, and
-
interpretation.
Additional criteria for theoretical proposals:
-
argument, and
-
implications.
Poster Review Criteria
Reviewers will be asked to rate each poster proposal on the following criteria:
-
importance of issue,
-
relationship to PME-NA 2012 conference theme,
-
response to the issue, and
-
quality of writing.
For those who find it useful, we provide a worksheet for reviewing poster proposals (Word, PDF).
Working Group Review Criteria
Reviewers will be asked to rate each working group proposal on the following criteria:
-
choice of issue,
-
relationship to PME-NA 2012 conference theme,
-
active engagement of the participants,
-
sustainability,
-
results of prior work (returning working groups only), and
-
quality of writing.
For those who find it useful, we provide a worksheet for reviewing poster proposals (Word, PDF).
